01Local Conditions
What actually shortens joint life in Bel Air.
The canyon communities have two things working against the joint at once. Underneath, graded lots settle unevenly for a long time. Overhead, the canyon pulls warm air through by day and drops it sharply at night, so the daily temperature swing here is wider than a few miles away on the flat. Wide swings mean more expansion and contraction, and more cycles through the bead every year. We see it across Bel Air in the same order every time. The bead loses its give first, then it splits, then it lets go of one wall. Around East Gate, Bel Air Crest, Stone Canyon and Roscomare Valley the pools are close enough in age that a whole street tends to reach that point within a season or two of each other.
02Decks We Seal
The decks and coping we work on around Bel Air.
Hillside decks are often large, multi level and shaped around the lot, which means long joint runs with real curves in them. Curves are where a rushed joint gives itself away: the bead wanders, the width changes, and the line reads as a repair instead of part of the deck. We set the rod round the radius first and let the bead follow it. Every Bel Air job gets the same two sided bond and the same tooled finish just below deck level, so there is no lip to catch a bare foot and no dark stripe running round the pool.
03On The Day
How a job in Bel Air runs, from booking to cure.
These are private homes, so the job is deliberately low disruption. One crew, one day, working the perimeter of the deck. We need the gate open by eight and pets indoors, and that is genuinely all. The quote is fixed before we schedule and nothing is charged until the work is complete. Booking a Bel Air pool is the same process as any other. Measure the run, take the fixed price, pick your date. Nothing is charged until the work is finished and you have walked the joint with the crew. Bel Air is part of Los Angeles, and we work the whole of it, so if your pool sits on the boundary it makes no difference to the price or the schedule.
