Local Conditions
What actually shortens joint life in Lake Elsinore.
Two conditions here shorten joint life more than anywhere else we work. The first is the temperature range, which is wider than the coast by a long way and puts more mechanical work through the bead every year. The second is the water, which is hard enough to leave visible mineral deposits along the joint line and in the coping stone. Neither is dramatic on its own. Together they age a joint quickly. We see it across Lake Elsinore in the same order every time. The bead loses its give first, then it splits, then it lets go of one wall. Around Tuscany Hills, Canyon Hills, Rosetta Canyon and Lakeland Village the pools are close enough in age that a whole street tends to reach that point within a season or two of each other.
