Local Conditions
What actually shortens joint life in Oceanside.
Close enough to the coast to get the marine layer, far enough inland to get real afternoon heat. That combination is harder on a joint than either condition alone. The deck is damp at eight in the morning and hot by two, so the slab is moving through a wider daily range than the weather report suggests, and the bead has to absorb all of it. Salt still reaches this far on the breeze, just in smaller doses over a longer period. Across Oceanside the pattern is consistent enough that we can usually tell from one photo how long a joint has left. The decks around South Oceanside, Fire Mountain, Rancho Del Oro and Arrowood are no different, and neither is the fix: the whole bead out, wall to wall, and a new one that can actually move.
